A switch port is one part of a connection. Share the equipment at the other end and the planned cable route so the complete link can be reviewed before ordering.
- Port & peer device
- Specify the exact switch, port type, peer switch or server adapter, and required speed. Do not assume that a matching connector means the link is supported.
- Optics & cabling
- Confirm reach, fiber type, connectors, cable length and any breakout requirement. List transceivers at both ends and any patch-panel connections.
- Power & airflow
- State rack orientation, site power and redundancy needs. Confirm the offered fan direction, power supplies and rack accessories.
- Software & support
- List the required functions, entitlement term, support level and purchasing region. A hardware listing does not include a software entitlement unless the quotation says so.
Before you select software.
Does a listed software SKU mean a license is included?
No. Hardware, software and support are separate quotation lines unless a bundle explicitly includes them. Confirm the entitlement owner, term and applicable hardware before purchase.
Can I reuse an entitlement from another device?
Do not assume it is transferable. Ask for confirmation of the applicable licensing and support conditions for the specific equipment and entitlement.
Can I request matching equipment for an existing network?
Yes. Share exact installed models, software versions, airflow requirements and your current topology. Identify any substitutions that would need separate approval.
What should I include in a request?
Send the model and quantity, port and uplink requirements, optics and cable list, software functions, support expectations and destination. Save a draft, then share it with your sales contact.
